Hold the AGM the weekend of the Nationals and make it part of the festival.
An AGM should just be about electing officers, congratulating work done, and getting guidance from the members about the future. It could be a very positive thing.
Discuss all matters relating to rule changes of the Nationals Championships at a seperate general meeting to the AGM. Bands squabbling over rule changes always bogs things down, and puts people off coming.
Linking the AGM and the Nationals so strongly in the Constitution makes the AGM almost solely about the Nationals, and that is a mistake I feel. |

If I'm right the written version of the constitution hasn't been updated for some years, so would need to be read in conjunction with any subsequent changes passed at AGMs.
There's nothing unusual in this, in my experience it has always been the case, as the Executive are busy enough without having to trawl through AGM minutes and reprint the constitution every year or two. However, given the passage of time since it was last done, perhaps this should be looked at in the coming year if someone has time to do it? |
